Andrea Zittel – Lay of My Land

Andrea Zittel was born in 1965 in Escondido, California. She received a BFA in painting and sculpture (1988) from San Diego State University, and an MFA (1990) in sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design.
Her work has been included in group exhibitions such as the Whitney Biennial (2004 and 1995); Documenta X (1997); Skulptur Projecte Münster (1997); and the Venice Biennale (1993). She has had solo exhibitions at The Whitney Museum of American Art, Altria, New York (2006); the Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston (2005); The Deichtorhallen, Hamburg (2000); the Museum für Gegenwartskunst in Basel (1996); the Louisiana Museum, Humlebæk, Denmark (1996); the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (1995-96); and The Carnegie Museum, Pittsburgh (1994).
