About the Library

Magasin III’s reference library and seminar room is located next to the museum entrance. The library is both used internally by those working at the museum and open to visitors who out of curiosity or for research purposes want to learn more about contemporary art, architecture, and design. Most books are directly connected to our history and our exhibition program, while others relate to the arts in a wider context. The room is also apt for seminars and smaller lectures.

The reference library, located in what used to be an exhibition hall, was designed in 2020 by the architectural firm DinellJohansson in close dialogue with Magasin III. The library is arranged as a room within the room, giving the possibility to continuously exhibit art in the room. The short sides of the library have been repurposed from our previous library in the entrance, designed by John Robert Nilsson. As a marker of the museum’s history, we have also decided to keep the ceiling lights along the walls that previously illuminated all our exhibition halls.
