September 25, 1999 - January 16, 2000
Curator: Richard Julin, David Neuman

The exhibition with the Danish artist Per Kirkeby at Magasin 3 Stockholm Konsthall presents 23 paintings, 34 bronze sculptures and 24 works on paper. This is indicative of the artist’s multi-disciplinary experiences in painting, drawing, graphic arts, sculpture as well as architecture, film and poetry. In 1962 he joined the Experimental Art School in Copenhagen where he worked with painting, graphics, 8-mm film and happenings throughout the decade. In 1965 he published his first volume of verse. Born in 1938 in Copenhagen, Kirkeby has apart from the education at the art school, also a Master of Science in Geology at the University of Copenhagen. The observation of geological layers is to be found in the reciprocal overlapping and close observation of nature that in his pictures represent a definitive artistic continuum.
