Hapaska, Long, Neto
Magasin 3 Stockholm Konsthall is showing works by three artists from three continents: Siobhán Hapaska from Northern Ireland, Charles Long from USA and Ernesto Neto from Brazil. All three refer to themselves as sculptors and have developed idioms on the borderline between abstraction and figuration. Many of their works contain sounds, smells and an emphasis on interactive elements. Siobhán Hapaska was noted internationally when she participated in Documenta X in 1997. Charles Long is known for his collaboration with the British music group Stereolab. Ernesto Neto is currently showing one of his installations at Carnegie International in Pittsburgh. For Magasin 3 the artists are producing new works which will be shown alongside a selection of previous works all of which the viewer might experience physically by smelling, listening, watching, touching, and moving around the works.
