Magasin 3 Stockholm Konsthall is showing three large works by the Chris Burden: The B-Car, 1975, shown for the first time together with the artist’s 118 project drawings. The Speed of Light Machine, 1979 and Four Bridges, 1998-99, commissioned for this exhibition. Chris Burden, born 1946 in Boston, USA, has been in the public’s eye since his legendary performances from the early 70’s. One example is Trans-Fixed where he had himself crucified on the back of a Volkswagen car. After five years as a performance artist, Burden turned to sculpture and installations, of a highly eccentric sort, often manipulating technology by reducing it to artistic absurdities.
