Oscar Guermouche
Oscar Guermouche was born in 1977 in Stockholm. He resided on the island of Öland. In 2009, he received his master’s degree from the Department of Art at Konstfack in Stockholm.
Guermouche’s work has been exhibited at various institutions, including the Nationalmuseum, Stockholm; ICIA, Gothenburg; National Centre for Contemporary Art, Moscow; Sleepwalker Projects, Toronto; and Kunsthalle Rostock, Germany. His works are represented in collections such as the Public Art Agency Sweden, the City of Stockholm, and the City of Gothenburg. His artworks have been published in the anthology Texst (Konstfack), Il Corpo Solitario (Rubbettino Editore), and by Flamme forlag. He is also the author of several articles and essays for publications like Paletten Art Journal, the Swedish General Art Association, and Turku Biennaali. He has been awarded scholarships and distinctions from the Swedish Arts Grants Committee, the Uddenberg-Nordingska Foundation, and the Nordic First St. John’s Lodge Jubilee Fund, among others.
Guermouche was a recurring lecturer and guest teacher at the Royal Institute of Art, Konstfack, and Valand Academy. Additionally, he served as the vice chairman of the Visual Artists’ Fund and chairman of the Iaspis delegation, as well as a member of the Konstfack University Board.
From 2020, he ran the publishing house Praun & Guermouche together with Sandra Praun. Their work has been recognized with awards such as the Swedish Book Art award and the bronze prize in the Deutscher Fotobuchpreis (German Photobook Prize).
