Jan van Munster
Jan van Munster (b. 1939, Gorinchem, The Netherlands) finished his studies at the Academy of Visual Arts in Rotterdam and the Institute of Applied Art in Amsterdam, later the Rietveld School of Art & Design, in 1960.
His subject matter is energy: temperature, magnetism, radioactivity and electricity are the point of departure for many works that make the invisible visible. His work can be seen in many locations in the Netherlands and abroad. It is held in prestigious national and international private and public collections.
My works are about energies, about time and space, in which oppositions such as light and dark, heat and cold, attraction and repulsion, noise and silence are givens. – Jan van Munster
