Cyprien Gaillard was born in 1980 in Paris, he lives and works in Berlin. Gaillard has studied at École cantonale d’art de Lausanne in Switzerland, 2005.

Selected solo exhibitions include Sprüth Magers, Los Angeles (2020); Accelerator, Stockholm (2019); TANK, Shanghai (2019); Julia Stoschek Collection, Düsseldorf (2015); MoMA PS1, New York (2013); Hammer Museum, Los Angeles (2013); Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris (2011); KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin (2011); Kunsthalle Basel, Basel (2010) and 032c Workshop, Berlin (2010). Group exhibitions include Het HEM, Amsterdam (2020); Fondation Vincent van Gogh, Arles (2019); Gropius Bau, Berlin (2018); ARoS Art Museum, Aarhus (2017) and Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam (2015). He has also participated in the 58th Venice Biennale (2019).

He has been honored with a number of grants, including Melbourne International Film Festival Award for Best Experimental Short Film (2016); Arken Art Prize, Denmark (2016); Preis der Nationalgalerie für junge Kunst, Hamburger Bahnhof (2011) and Prix Marcel Duchamp, Association pour la Diffusion Internationale de l’Art Française (ADIAF) (2010).
