Tour through the Futures of Jerusalem

Date: November 30, 2024
Location: Jerusalem

Where can we find shelter after the collapse? What are the Zuckerberg family members doing at the King David Hotel? Is the molecular disintegration of Jerusalem a disaster or salvation? And what will the archaeological site in Silwan look like when the city is truly united?

Amid an ongoing war on multiple fronts, the abandonment of hostages, destruction in the south and north of the country, shattered government institutions, and repeated attacks on democracy, imagining a different future has become increasingly difficult.

On November 30, we will travel to Jerusalem to remind ourselves that, despite all this, the future is not a single, predetermined path set by the past but rather a collection of possibilities that we can shape in the present. As part of the exhibition Looking Back at the Future at Magasin III Jaffa, we will explore speculative futures of Jerusalem through four guided tours that examine the range of possible futures. We will then gather for lunch and a meeting at FeelBeit, a Palestinian-Israeli cultural space in Jerusalem—an initiative that actively embodies an alternative future in the present.

Schedule:

09:00 Departure from Jaffa: Magasin III Jaffa, 34 Ole Zion St.
10:00 Arrival in Jerusalem – Walking tour with Speculative Tourism, guided by Mushon Zer-Aviv, featuring three future-makers: Hagit Keysar, Boaz Lavie, and Meiron Rapoport.
