{"id":70773,"date":"2020-07-25T11:43:54","date_gmt":"2020-07-25T09:43:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/magasin3.com\/?post_type=m3_exhibition&#038;p=70773"},"modified":"2020-11-23T16:57:59","modified_gmt":"2020-11-23T15:57:59","slug":"body-of-water","status":"publish","type":"m3_exhibition","link":"https:\/\/magasin3.com\/en\/exhibition\/body-of-water\/","title":{"rendered":"Body of Water"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-column\">\n<p><em>Body of Water<\/em>\u00a0consists of\u00a0three video\u00a0artworks from\u00a0the collection of\u00a0Magasin III\u00a0Museum\u00a0for\u00a0Contemporary Art.<\/p>\n<p>Anton Henning,\u00a0<em>Voil\u00e1<\/em>, 2009, 2 min.\u00a022 sec<br \/>\nJanine\u00a0Antoni,\u00a0<em>Touch<\/em>, 2002, 9 min. 37 sec<br \/>\nKimsooja,\u00a0<em>Bottari\u00a0Alfa Beach<\/em>, 2001, 5 min. 48 sec<\/p>\n<p>The myths and characteristics\u00a0attributed to\u00a0water\u00a0are used by these\u00a0three artists to\u00a0create\u00a0possible and impossible relations between the body and water.\u00a0The boundaries implied by physicality are joined\u00a0to a\u00a0force of nature, one\u00a0beyond the visual and intellectual perception.<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0<em>Voil<\/em><em>\u00e1<\/em>, Anton Henning uses the body as a tool, and the frozen\u00a0water\u00a0surface as\u00a0a\u00a0canvas.\u00a0While playing ice hockey,\u00a0brushes are replaced with skates and a hockey stick, strokes\u00a0substituted by\u00a0skating and\u00a0striking the\u00a0puck. Henning creates\u00a0an abstract painting, controlled by chance and automatic movement, a tribute to the work of Jean\u00a0Arp and Marcel Duchamp. The result, temporary and deceptive\u00a0as it may be, is surprisingly\u00a0similar to\u00a0Henning\u2019s oil paintings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wp-block-column\">\n<p><em>Touch<\/em>\u00a0records Janine Antoni\u2019s attempt to walk across the horizon, between sky and water, at the furthest point the human eye can perceive.\u00a0The\u00a0artwork,\u00a0<em>Moor<\/em>, (2001),\u00a0a rope\u00a0created\u00a0by the artist\u00a0from\u00a0materials\u00a0that her friends had\u00a0given her\u00a0over the\u00a0years,\u00a0inspired\u00a0Antoni\u00a0to teach\u00a0herself\u00a0funambulism.\u00a0<em>Touch<\/em>\u00a0was\u00a0filmed\u00a0in the Bahamas, across from Antoni\u2019s childhood home.
